My Oscar's Experience
Last night before the Oscar's started, me and the wife watched Pirates of the Caribbean : At World's End, finally. I had put this movie off for a long time since I had such a negatively feeling after the last iteration of this series. I think one of big reasons that this movie is a lot better, and more palletable is the return of Geoffrey Rush. It was definitely not the greatest movie, but this was visually stunning, and the ship scenes are gorgeous. It was a far superior viewing experience, not sure who deserves the nod here since it is the same director, and writers but a much better movie overall.
I recorded the Oscar's on my DVR while we watched Pirate's so that we could fly through the commercials and skip some of the not so interesting speeches. Natalie and I actually started watching the Oscar's at 10:30pm and finished at 1:00am, so only cut maybe 30 or so minutes off the whole show. This was a very annoying issue with watching this way, we missed the last 25 or so minutes of the show because it ran over the scheduled length. Why can't the creators of DVR's take into account that sometimes shows run over their time limits, and come up with a solution for the end of the show cut off issues.
All that being said, the show was pretty fun to watch and Jon Stewart was very, very funny. I spent the entire time watching the Oscar's with my Macbook Pro sitting on my lap opened to Netflix as movies were mentioned adding them to my queue. My wife was laughing at me at first for doing this then, slowly was like add this and that to the netflix queue. So after last night my queue went from 200+ to 300+ we are never going to catch up...
