NYC PHP Meetup - Drupal vs. Joomla

Last evening I went to the New York City PHP meetup group, after one of the members of this group posted on the New York City Drupal group's site looking for speaker / advocates. It was fun to walk into a new meetup group, that was really just starting out, and people were enthusiastic and excited to have new people showing up. In the end about half the attendees were entrepreneurs, recruiters, or marketing folks, and the other half were technical, developer types.

Zend PHP Bootcamp Over

Well the week is over and I feel like the training was fantastic. The trainer, Jason, did a good job trying wrangle a huge amount of material and give us practical examples of some relatively obscure details that will be on the certification exam. I had a rather frustrating week overall because I ended up doing a lot of development late into the night, and at times even into class time. I need to set better demarcation in my time, if I am doing something then that is what I am doing.

Zend PHP Bootcamp Day 1

With my first day down, I am cautiously optimistic about this training class. Today my day started with a 2+ hour commute into Manhattan, needless to say I was late to class. The bonus is that the first hour of class was very, very basic, and I have enough programming classes under my belt, and PHP knowledge that I didn't need this portion of the class. I do feel that I did learn a few things today, but I will say I wish that we were given a few more guided tutorials, and problems to work out ourselves.
