I am sitting at my dining room table today reading through chapter one of my C++: How to Program book for my Computer Science 2 class. When I started back to school I went back for many reasons, first was to finish something that I had started long ago, and I had once promised (and often reminded) my mother that I would one day complete my Bachelor's Degree. But as I have returned to college, I realize that more and more I am frustrated by students that have a genuine lack of knowledge and enthusiasm for the things that interest me.
Last night was the NYC Drupal August meetup at Mansueto's offices at 7 World Trade Center. This was the first meetup under a new more structured format, of lightening talks, and then splitting the group into newbies and ninjas. During the lightening talks last night, I gave a quick run through my current projects. I first ran down Hot Report's functionality, how I took it from designer's comp and functional specification and some of the modules and the dealt with output from the views.
Currently there are many projects that are on my plate. One is an online newsletter for a fashion company from Brooklyn, NY. The look and feel for this site has been designed by Krona Design. I am in the process of fleshing out the design comp to a test site that the designer and our customer and see, use and try the functionality. During this project large scale, pixel perfect layouts are expected, so we are using technology to replace the text with a font that isn't supported by every visitor's computer.
I am very excited to announce that I have a new online home located over at HeartyHandshake.Com. This is a new showcase site for my web design, development and implementation, more over the site is a Drupal 5.1 website with a custom created theme. That design was created for my by my very good friend Christian over at Krona Design, and I feel very lucky to have his creativity at work for my online brand.
Hey all, been a while life, school, work and wifey all taking time away from me typing
3 weeks ago my friend and guinea-pig Jon came to me with complaints about his website being a little out of date. I immediately turned around and started the process of getting his site installed using Drupal so he could maintain it himself because I am busy with work and school, and he is more technical then your average user. I started his site migration from a stock static website with a wordpress blog to a new customized, dynamic Drupal site.
Hi all my name is Robbie, and I am known online as RobbieTheGeek, have many spots I can bee found online and that is my handle. So here is the reason for a new blog, I decided I would give WordPress a try and to use and abuse it.
Yesterday afternoon I was able to attend the Senior Showcase for my wife and our great friend Jon. I am totally impressed by their commitment and dedication. I am so proud of Natalie she has set goals for herself by the showcase and reached them. The scenes were all very good, and I was so happy to get to see Jon and Natalie perform the infamous "37 dicks" scene from Keven Smith's Clerks.
I can officially announce that my first professional website is online. www.jonhoche.com is the address to my buddy Jon's site, I am excited to say that I have created a site that he really appears to like. I will tell you that this was/is the greatest learning experience in my entire business career. I can say emphatically that web design/developer is the career I am now pursuing. It may take me time to get there and make a living doing website work but hang in there I will get there.
The news is that I have got a preliminary website up and running for my buddy. There is a fully created and functional website hiding below the Coming Soon page I have put up. I have spent a lot of time working on this website and I am not sure it is what I want for him LOL. The slick, cool factor website that I have developed for him may not be functional enough for an actors resume website.
